The Costa de Lisboa has a lot more to offer than just the seven hills. Friendly fishing villages, seaside towns and fairytale palaces make this region the most fascinating of Portugal.
Want to discover the authentic Portuguese city life? Then visit the old quarters of Alfama and Bairro in Lisbon. The city at the mouth of the Tagus River has a unique character with: the old trams lines, the particularly long Vasco-da-Gama Bridge and the picturesque neighbourhoods on the hills and downtown Baixa Pump Alina will soon make you fall in love.
Equally as special is Sintra. This town is a fairy tale with its: many palaces, castles, monuments and gardens. Among the most fairy-tale palaces is the Palácio de Pena, with its strikingly colourful exterior. The Castelo do Mouros has many stunning views and the gardens of Montserrate deserve attention too.

The best way to discover Cascais is by bicycle and car. You can ride 6 km to the beach of Guincho, a paradise for surfers.
You can eat the fish in Portugal anywhere. Peniche is one of the major fishing ports and a major center of Atlantic maritime activities and tourism. We recommend for you to stop at one of the restaurants on the street Avenida do Mar and try the delicious caldeirada (fish soup).
In Lisbon you will find plenty of choice. Rua Augusta is a wide boulevard that was opened to become the most important shopping street. In the surrounding streets you will find many shoe shops and jewelers, in streets that take its name from stores such as Rua da Sapateiro (via cobblers), Rua da Prata (via the silversmiths) and Rua do Ouro (via the goldsmiths). Naturally, there are big names like Prada and Louis Vuitton and even the less expensive brands such as H & M.
Lisbon city center is easily reached by train in Cascais and Estoril. Comfortably seated you can enjoy breathtaking views of the idyllic beaches of Portugal.
