Roses, geraniums, bougainvillea and orchids; looking around it is not difficult to imagine where the name of the Italian Riviera came from. In the middle of this stretch of coast is the largest and oldest port city of Genoa. Stroll along ‘Al Porto Antico’ admiring the beautiful boats. Further west are the famous ‘Cinque Terre’, five picturesque villages built on steep and rugged cliffs. You can get there by train, but there is also a fascinating walking path with breathtaking sea views.
