This holiday region between Lisbon and Porto is perfect for a beach holiday untouched by mass tourism.
Camping holiday on the Atlantic
It only takes approximately 10 minutes to walk from the campsite directly into the centre of São Pedro de Moel, a cosy coastal village guarded by an impressive lighthouse, the Farol Penedo da Saudade.
The vast beaches that lie between rocky cliffs are a great find for those who love water sports. This is where the Portuguese come with their boards to conquer the surf. At the campsite itself you can have great fun in the pool or mastering the curves of the water slides.
Forests and beaches
Orbitur São Pedro de Moel Campsite is located between high pine trees at the edge of a huge woodland area.
The pool area with sun terrace and sun loungers is in the middle of the campsite’s grounds which cover 7.5 hectares. You can get snacks and cool drinks at the kiosk by the pool.Children can let off steam in the paddling pool, the playground or the special play room for kids. Other leisure facilities for all guests include billiard tables and tennis courts. The main draw of the resort is of course the vast beaches along the Atlantic which are only 800 metres from the resort and easy to reach on foot.
Flying visits to neighbouring towns and villages
Orbitur São Pedro de Moel Campite is located between Lisabon and Porto and serves as a good base for quick visits to both cities. The region is well known for its fortresses, old monasteries, historic chapels adorned with typically Portugese Azulejos (blue-white ceramic tiling), rocky cliffs and idyllic fishing villages. Don’t miss out on the chance to try ‘Bacalhau’ ─ a Portuguese fish speciality.
Surging waves and more
Every keen surfer knows about the fishing town Nazaré which is known for its unusually high waves.
When the conditions are right, Nazaré offers some of the biggest surfable waves in the world. Approximately 25 kilometres to the south of São Pedro de Moel, Nazaré is also worth a visit for its numerous sights including the old city walls, the bull fighting arena, the Fort São Miguel and the Nossa Senhora da Nazaré pilgrimage church.
