The area surrounding Le Val de l’Aisne Campsite
The Ardennes mountain region is a particularly popular holiday destination due to its lush green landscapes, stunning forests, rivers and hills which provide the perfect conditions for outdoor activities like canoeing, biking, climbing and hiking. It is worth going on a bike ride to the Hotton Caves approximately 12 kilometres away where you can take a tour of the unusual stalactite formations and underground waterfalls. In Hotton there is an old mill that dates back to 1729 and the Riveo ─ a nature and river museum with a mini golf course. Those with a sweet tooth should head to Erezée where the chocolate manufacturer Philippe Defriodmont’s chocolate museum is located. Culture enthusiasts will enjoy a trip to Deulin Castle and the feudal castle of La Roche-en-Ardenne. If you are looking to entertain your children then you might want to take a ride on the antique train that snakes along the untouched landscape of the Ardennes or visit the Labyrinth of Durbuy Adventure Park or Chlorophylle Park which has a wooden adventure play park, a 45-metre-long bridge high up in the treetops and grounds that cover 9 hectares. In Durbuy, the smallest town in the world, you can try one of the fantastic Belgian beers and buy some souvenirs to take home.
