Rugged coast

Catalan hinterland

Visit Besalú

Besalú is a wonderful town on the Costa Brava with many religious monuments such as the ancient monastery of Sant Pere, the church of Santa Maria and San Vincenç. There is also a medieval bridge, a masterpiece of architectural ingenuity whose construction has become a legend.


Fiestas del Carmen

In fishing villages such as Lloret de Mar, Empuriabrava or Palamos the "Fiestas del Carmen" takes place every year in JulyIn these processions there is a statue of Carmen- the patron saint of fishermen. It is celebrated by the traditional Catalan folk dance "Sardanas" and is demonstrated by the locals.

Viva Barcelona!

On a family holiday in the Costa Brava there is only one place for a major shopping trip: Barcelona. The drive from Blanes to Barcelona is approximately 1.5 hours. The boutiques of "Passeig de Gràcia" and "Carrer de Pelayo" are always worth it. Even if you only go window shopping, it's a good chance to explore some of the sights of Barcelona.

On the Costa Brava you have many restaurants serving freshly caught fish . A typical specialty is "Esqueixada", which is a salad with cod and tomato. For dessert try the sweet "Crema Catalana"which is the Spanish version of "crème brulée".
