The area surrounding Les Tamaris Holiday Park
Les Tamaris Holiday Park is only 150 metres from the beach and Mediterranean Sea. You can reach Portiragnes-Plage easily on foot and the centre of Portiragnes is approximately four kilometres to the north where you will find Saint-Felix Church which was built in the 12th century using black volcanic rock. The famous Canal du Midi, which has UNESCO World Heritage status, flows right through Portiragnes and passes through two canal locks. Les Tamaris Holiday Park is the perfect base for exploring the surrounding region. Visit the old town and impressive market hall in Narbonne. Take a little detour on the way back to visit Fontfriode Abbey that was built in the early 11th century. The breath-taking medieval fortress town of Carcassonne is still used as the backdrop for historical films and is an hour’s drive inland from the resort.
The Cevennes National Park is a paradise for hikers with deep gorgeous, green forests and hills. Finally, it is worth taking a day trip to see the numerous sights in Béziers which is 17 kilometres to the north of Portiragnes-Plage.
