Away from mass tourism? Camping Campo al Fico is a true haven of peace and an explosion of green. The campsite is located in the shade of a forest with large pine, palm, eucalyptus and olive trees populated by squirrels.
You cycle through the nature reserve to the longest sandy beaches of Tuscany, about a kilometer away. Opposite the coast, lie Elba and some small islands that together form the Tuscan Archipelago. In the summer you can even spot whales here. Mia and Gianluca, the new owners since 2016, welcome you!
Cultural activities and water fun The swimming pool with separate children's area provides refreshment and is sometimes open in the evening for cozy parties, without too loud music. Join in with the surprising activities ranging from making ceramics, theater games and painting for children to yoga, beer tasting and candlelight concerts for adults. The terrace at the pool bar is a good place to start the day with a laid-back breakfast and a newspaper. In addition to fish and Tuscan specialties, the restaurant also serves quality pizzas from the wood-fired oven. Special attention is paid to food intolerances, vegetarians and vegans, and the restaurant participates in an initiative against food waste.
Mobile home or Coco Suite The mobile homes are equipped with private bathroom and very comfortable, air conditioning. Of course there is a spacious veranda for communal dinners and relaxation moments. The Coco Suites are a cozy cross between traditional tents and mobile homes. You use the communal bathroom, but you do have a hob and microwave to create a simple holiday meal. Also at the Coco Suite you can enjoy the nice summer weather on your own veranda.
Tuscan Archipelago From Piombino, a 15-minute drive from Riotorto, the boat leaves for Elba, the island where Napoleon was in exile. Immerse yourself in the history of Bonaparte and explore the charming villages of the island. And take a snorkel, because the beaches of Elba are very suitable for this. Culture sniffing? Grosseto is 40 minutes away and definitely worth it. Sienna is further, but is easily accessible so suitable for a day trip. Do you want to discover Tuscany 'off the beaten path'?
