Discover “Old France” in the Dordogne

Domaine de Soleil Plage is perfectly located in the middle of the Perigord Noir, near Sarlat and right on the banks of the Dordogne River. Such close proximity to the river offers swimming and canoeing, or you can choose to take a dip in the pool complex located on the campsite.

The Dordogne region is well known for grand castles, a pleasant climate, rural villages, fine food and friendly atmosphere. With the medieval towns of Sarlat and Domme nearby, you have plenty of opportunities to explore.

What can you do at Domaine de Soleil Plage?

As the name Soleil Plage suggests, the sun is often out, meaning you can enjoy taking a dip in either the water park with the various swimming pools or in the Dordogne river. During the summer holidays, the campsite provides plenty of great activities. Join a sports tournament, water aerobics or the get down at the disco. Fishing is popular on the Dordogne, so bring your rod. You buy a permit at the campsite. A canoe trip on the river is an absolute must try activity. From Soleil Plage you can explore different routes past castles and villages on the banks of the Dordogne, with a mini-van on hand to bring weary travellers back to the campsite, where they can relax with a cold drink or one of the local dishes in the restaurant. Delicious!

Perigord Noir

If you visit the Dordogne, then you simply have to visit Sarlat. We recommend getting there early to ensure a parking space and to explore before the crowds arrive. Take a city walk and see the medieval town with its old roofs and beautiful sandstone facades, wander through the market and buy products from the region. Discover hidden narrow alleys, walk along the city walls and enjoy the artists on the street. Another photogenic place near Soleil Plage is La Roque-Gageac, which is built against a steep rock. Make the climb up, and be rewarded with a super view of the river and the shopping streets. And if you want to visit one of the many castles, head over to Château de Beynac, one of the most beautiful medieval castles in the area. And a little further out but very special in it’s own right are the Lascaux caves, with rock paintings of bison, deer and bulls. Have fun in the wonderful Dordogne!
